Lantern Organization Veterans Initiative, located on the southeast corner of 118th Street and Park Avenue, is new construction of a 87 unit residential building with supportive service space on the ground and cellar floors.
LGVI is a permanent housing development for homeless veterans and low income single adults residing in the East Harlem community.
Sixty percent of the units are set aside for DHS-referred homeless veterans. Forty percent of the units are set aside for low income adults earning up to 60% of area median income. Priority for all low-income units will be given to residents of Community Board No. 11. Marketing for these units will be provided through a locally hired marketing firm, in conjunction with the Lantern Organization.
LGVI will provide tenants with safe, affordable housing and on-site supportive services. The purpose of the supportive services program is to keep residents housed in their apartments through case management services organized around social stability, economic stability and continued independent living. Case management services include:
-
